The arguer states a series of propositions. The early ones are
readily acceptable to the audience or reader, but the concluding statement
may be dubious. The listener or reader is expected to accept blindly the,
later ones because he has accepted those which came before.
Advertisement: 'The boys in the service abroad want letters
more than gifts. Write frequently because some letters may be lost. Write
only good news because there are enough unpleasant things going on over
